How did you come up with your name and number?
My husband came up with the name because I love to swim. And you can't have a mermaid without water.
What made you first start roller derby, or how did you discover roller derby?
I had heard about it for years and really wanted to play. Then I saw an ad in the local newspaper about a team starting and I jumped on it.
Why do you love roller derby so much?
It’s a great way to relieve tension and stress. After a rough day there is nothing like pushing your way through the pack.
How many hours per week do you practice?
Not many now but usually 4-6 hours a week.
What is your favorite drill?
Anything that challenges my endurance.
What is the most challenging part of roller derby?
Leaving home during dinner time.
What are your non-derby hobbies?
Swimming, knitting, motorcycles, finding roller derby clothes
What’s your favorite piece of your roller derby wardrobe?
The socks.
How does your derby alter ego differ from your everyday persona?
I don't really get mad, I leave that for the rink.
What is a common misconception about roller derby?
That it is not a sport.
